VISION, MISSION & VALUES

 
  • To put the pub back in the heart of the village and the village in the heart of the pub.

    • In the short term, for the White Swan to be open for at least 5 days each week.

    • For the White Swan to be a social centre and community hub for the villages of Thornton-le- Clay and Foston with tenants/managers actively contributing to this aim.

    • For the White Swan to provide a range of food and drink options at times that suit the community throughout the day and year as well as being a destination pub for visitors and tourists to the area.

    • For the White Swan to be a cheerful, family friendly country pub with a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.

    • For the White Swan to provide both drinkers and diners with a range of locally sourced real ales and ciders along with value for money restaurant quality food from a seasonal menu based on locally sourced food.

    • For the White Swan to promote regular events such as music and quiz nights along with charity fund raising events to bring the community together.

    • For the White Swan to be an inclusive facility set up for a broad set of disabilities for example visual, hearing and mobility impairment.

  • Our mission is to secure the White Swan as an asset of the local community and in this way secure

    its future as a community pub for the local villages.

    • To ensure that, once open, the White Swan is run by professional tenants/managers as a welcoming family friendly country pub with good locally sourced food and beer.

    • To ensure that any tenants/managers are accountable to the Management Committee of the White Swan under a tenancy agreement which will include our community needs and requirements.

    • Any profits made by the Management Committee, above and beyond interest payments to the community shareholders, to be reinvested in projects for the benefit of the local community (assumes community ownership).

    • To create a viable and sustainable business that provides a facility to the community and local tourism as well as employment opportunities for local residents.
